When using anointing oil, always remember it is the prayer of faith that makes the difference.
Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. James 5:14.
That is why we anoint by praying. You do this by placing anointing oil in your palm or finger then touching it to your head. There are also occasions where the oil can be poured upon a person. There are other prophetic ways of anointing like in the blessings of the sons of Asher.
And of Asher he said, Let Asher be blessed with children; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil. Deuteronomy 33:24
Their feet were washed with oil as with the alabaster box of oil that was poured on the feet of Jesus. The woman also poured the oil at the feet of Jesus which is noted as anointing with oil.
And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that he was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment,
and standing behind him at his feet, weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed his feet and anointed them with the ointment. Luke 7:37-38
You can also anoint things like cars, houses, wedding rings, or anything that is important to you. Remember that whenever you anoint something, it means there is protection, healing, prosperity and blessings.
The anointing of oil can also be a way of separating something unto God to the glory of God. Everything dedicated to God is often anointed as holy for the Lord's work. That is what happened in the days of Moses.
Moreover, the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of flowing myrrh five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, two hundred and fifty, and of fragrant cane two hundred and fifty, and of cassia five hundred, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a hin. You shall make of these a holy anointing oil, a perfume mixture, the work of a perfumer; it shall be a holy anointing oil. With it you shall anoint the tent of meeting and the ark of the testimony, and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, and the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the laver and its stand. Exodus 30:22-29 ETV
Amongst the place that where anointed was the place of worship, the ark of the testimony, table, utensils, lamp stand and the altar. This shows that you can anoint your house, car, land, clothing and the tools you use for work. By this you invoke the presence of God in whatever you anoint.
